Projeto Brasil uses a mixture of methodologies. We use Backwards Design in the planning of our curriculum, as well as Project-based Learning, Maker Movement, Gamification and Direct Teaching. We use hands-on and interactive strategies that elicit curiosity, increase engagement and participation, offer opportunities for oral communication, and give space for students to use their creativity.

We intertwine our culture in all projects, whether through music, literature, geography, history, cuisine, regional customs, folklore, arts, architecture and more.

One of our main goals is the vocabulary acquisition as heritage speakers usually have a repertoire limited to everyday contexts and are exposed to various contexts in the majority language, in our case English. It is with this in mind that we include projects with varied topics, offering opportunities for the development of a broader and richer vocabulary. Our projects expose students to vocabulary found in our rich literature, in science, engineering, history, geography, music, games, arts, technology and more.

We believe that in learning by doing, to be active participants, so when entering our classes you will find students sitting on the floor doing activities in groups, lying in a corner reading a book, experimenting, working on projects, singing, creating stories, in short, they are always working hands-on. In our classes, the teacher guides, facilitates activities and projects and involves students who in turn investigate, create, lead and present their discoveries or creations.
